“My body is a metaphor to capture the dance of light and water. For this dance, I am much slower than normal. Water naturally flows fast but it is good to slow it down to experience the shape of each minute, each second. This gaze of slowness, a time freeze, is an opportunity for us humans to be reflective”
Searching deep inside, focusing on the ‘liquidity’ of her body, Wen-Chi Su sought to have a dialogue with the water, observing its dynamic in her dance. She looked to the light in its myriad facets: shimmering, melancholic, dry, stormy – and began the process of suspending time. By immersing into the original setting of La Prairie's birthplace, the connection between nature, the concept of time and the fluidity of her body became one. Her alliance with La Prairie is an instinctive meeting of minds. It is an art form steeped in science and precision, consumed with time – how slow, how fast – a beautiful quest for perfection that is distinct and yet discreet. This intrinsic connection to time runs parallel to that of La Prairie. Her desire to tell the story of the magical encounter between light and water through the power of dance and the concept of time intertwines exquisitely with La Prairie’s pursuit of timeless beauty.
