Senta Simond studied aesthetic and theory of cinema at the University of Lausanne, followed by a Bachelor’s and a Master ’s degree in Photography at ECAL (Ecole Cantonale d’Art de Lausanne) in Switzerland from which she graduated in 2017. Ms Simond focuses on an intimate approach to the female body and portraiture. Her work has been nominated for the Unseen Dummy Award by Aperture and the Paris Photo Award 2017 in the category of First PhotoBook. She was included in the Ones to Watch 2018 list by British Journal of Photography and the Foam Talent 2018 list. She was the winner of the Swiss Design Awards 2018.
Her book Rayon Vert was listed as one of the best books of 2018 by Sean O’Hagan in The Observer, by Brad Feuerhelm on Photobookstore.co.uk, and by Bryan Schutmaat, Bruno Ceschel and Marloes Krijnen in the British Journal of Photography. She currently lives and works in London.
